Tattoos i did at the Evian tattoo convention

Yeah, at last minute I got a booth put aside for me to work there.
So I figured, this time I would just show up with a bunch of drawings I really, really want to tattoo.
And guess what?
It went fine! I had the most rewarding tattoo time I ever had so far, did only stuff I liked, met some beautiful and talented people, artists, clients... Everything was just awesome. Thank you!!!!

Art

I have been working on flash this summer.
Just to let you know, I love the art of tattooing and tattoo designs and flash art have been something very present in the shops where I have worked.
I struggled to get my work to be more personal these last years, but I still want to show visitors some designs, even though I make designs custom for my customers.

So I started to work on some flash designs. Here are some of the stuff I made recently, it is based on a study and research I make on traditional tattoo heritage from very respectable old school tattoo artists from the past.

Also a few more recent tattoos I made.
Cheers!

Summer done!

I've been away to Montreal for a month and met some of the most nice people ever, went back to London for a week, and enjoyed summer delights in Geneva.

I'm sorry it took so long to repost anything here, but now I promised myself I will stick to some more regular posts with shitloads of awesome clients enjoying new tattoos.

What's new

GOSH, there's so much...
Well first thing, my wife and I went to Paris. We went on a photoshoot, and that was a first for me. She also performed on stage there.
After that we've been to London for 10 days.
My wife performed at the London burlesque festival, and it was pretty exciting to go see all those shows. Lots of tease, sparkle and fun!
I bought tons of clothes, I love to go shopping in London. And we visited the Warner studios, where all the "Harry Potter" movies where made!!!
I've done lots of tattoos, so I will share some here.

Oh and I got tattooed a little souvenir from our stay.

I am also traveling to Montreal this month, I will be tattooing as a guest artist in tatouage royal, from monday 3rd of June until Sunday 9th.

Spring showing up

...with the usual clientele rush.
"Can I get my tattoo before this summer?"
I'm trying my best to please my dear clients. But lately, I have booked a lot of appointments so there is not much place left in my schedule before July!

Here are some tattoos I did the last few days.

No title?
Can I even do that?
I would like to thank all the nice customers who are opened to discussion.
All I want is to try my best to make a tattoo look as good as I can.

Saturday I took a super short back and forth trip to meet the guys from steel workshop
And to tattoo mister Johann Morel
Have a nice week!

More traditional, please

So I'm on my way working out tattoo designs, elaborating tattoos for clients.
I feel very implicated whenever I discuss with customers about tattoo projects. Sometimes there is a special connection I feel between us, and I can manage some creative space for a special composition, or even work out the design in a way I think will be looking better on the skin.
I listen to your idea, we talk about composition, how to make the tattoo work nicely with the body. I try to apply the rules of good tattooing, ways to think a design out so the drawing will both be personal and looks like a classic tattoo. It has to be yours, and unique, and personal, but somehow classic, "a tattoo that looks like a tattoo".

See, I think if you want to get your body marked for life, willing to endure pain (well, of course it hurts), ready to spend money on it... The least I could do is make sure you get something you will be proud of, even 10 years later.

In the summer, if you ever go to the beach you'll see tons of naked human skin laying on the sand or swimming in the water. Now when you observe a little more, you can notice there are lots and lots of people wearing tattoos.
And here comes the trick: you will notice that those tattoos can fit in two categories.

1: the little "souvenir" tattoo.
impersonal, artistically poor, sometimes not even well made. Something so simple, you feel nothing when you look at it, because the design doesn't have enough visual impact.

2: the "real" tattoo.
When you see one, you feel something. It usually implies that you picture yourself with it, and have an immediate emotion about it.
It looks like a tattoo, and not like a graphic logo of some 1rst page of google or something.
Either you love it, either you don't, but you know right away the idea is personal.

My main goal is to push my clients to get tattoos that fit the #2 category.
I want YOU, dear customer, to feel happy about your tattoo. I want you to remember all the good times you had when you had it done, and the person you are through that cool tattoo.
Mainly, I just wish you to love your tattoos and be proud of them for the rest of your life.

Thanks for reading, love and peace
Sylvain.
